Jody DiCicco

Athlete

Jody DiCicco graduated from Berlin High in 2016. She participated in soccer, cross country, and indoor and outdoor track. In her running career at Berlin High School she held eleven school records, was a seven-time All-Northwest Conference, nine-time All-Academic, and four times she received the Coaches Award. She participated in the State Opens for outdoor track all four years. She was C.H.S.C.A. All-State for the 3200m in indoor track. She ran in the New Balance Nationals all four years and in the Foot Locker Nationals for cross country. She also qualified for the New England Open and the New Balance Outdoor in 2013 and 2014. Jody was the team captain for the indoor and outdoor track seasons her senior year.

Jody played on the JV soccer and varsity teams her junior year. She was a member and Treasurer of the Honor Society, in the BHS marching and concert band 2012-2016, and an Upbeat member all four years. Jody still plays and performs her flute music due to her BHS experiences with Mr. Bolling and Mr. Sirois.

Jody went on to attend Sacred Heart University and ran cross country, indoor and outdoor track for her four years. She holds the record for the second-fastest freshman. During the 2017 season opener at Yale, she won the 5000m in 18:15.20 in winning the race by nearly 30 seconds. She was Captain of indoor, outdoor, and cross-country teams her senior year. She graduated with her BS degree in three years and, in her fourth year, completed her Master’s in Investment Management. She was involved in student government and was the secretary during her freshman and sophomore years. She also found time to play in the concert band and the symphony orchestra.

According to her mother, “I think the most important quality besides the physical is that Jody never wanted attention on herself and wanted her fellow athletes to shine, especially the younger ones.” She is still doing her sport and competed in her third 50-mile run in Vermont, and runs every day thanks to finding her passion in cross country from Steve Soucy and BHS.
