Athlete
Ryan Lee graduated from Berlin High in 2009, where he was a four-year member of the varsity golf team and played a key role in winning the 2008 State Championship. While playing for Berlin, the team also won multiple Northwest Conference Championships. Ryan was also a standout on the basketball court.
Ryan caddied at Waterbury Country Club and was a former employee at Shuttle Meadow Country Club. He was a member of the Connecticut PGA Junior Golf Association and the U.S. Challenge Cup. He would spend endless summer days and nights at his home away from home, Timberlin Golf Course.
Ryan received a golf scholarship to Long Island University and the biggest highlight for Ryan was when he carded his best round of his collegiate golf career at the Siena Homewood Suites Invitational in Port St. Lucie, Florida with a 79 in round #1 and 72 in round #2, tying him for 5th place, and contributing to L.I.U. taking home the winning trophy.
Ryan tragically passed away in 2011. Parents and friends knew Ryan as a wonderful son and a fine young man. Fellow sports competitors knew Ryan as an overflowing athlete with talent and potential. His legacy is honored through the Ryan T Lee Memorial Foundation in helping others through scholarships and charitable efforts. To date, the Foundation has raised over $600,000.
According to Ryan’s teammate, Kevin Josephson, “Ryan was an ultimate team player and was one of the most competitive teammates I ever had and was instrumental in our team winning the 2008 State Tournament.”
