While deciding on a team to be recognized this year it was hard to overlook the accomplishments of the four golf teams of 1987-90 so it was decided that all four teams would be inducted together this year. The 1987, 88, 89, and 90 golf teams won four consecutive Division II State Championships. During that run they had three individual champions, Paul Veneziano in 1987 with a score of 78, Jon Veneziano captured the individual titles in 1988 with a score of 68 and again in 1989 with his score of 73.

The 1987 team finished with a record of 28-2-1, captured the NWC Championship while being led by co-captains Phil Josephson and Paul Veneziano. Other team members on the ‘87 team were Michael Gallo, Damaian Gallo, Jay Yuskis, Jon Veneziano, and Dean Faucher.

The 1988 team finished with a record of 28-4, captured the NWC Championship and was led by team captain Jon Veneziano. Other team members were Maria Krug, playing on the boy’s team as Berlin did not offer girl’s golf in ‘88, Keith Hartan, JayYuskis, Damian Gallo, Robert Ruta, and Brent Ireland.

The 1989 team finished with a record of 31-4-1, captured the NWC Championship and was led by team captain Jon Veneziano. Other team members were Keith Hartan, Chris Powers, Eric Seaburg, Damian Gallo, Robert Ruta, Jay Yuskis, and John Lineen.

The 1990 team finished with a record of 28-4-1, captured the NWC Championship for the 4thyear in row and was led by team captain Keith Hartan. Other team members were Mark Chant, John Lineen, Gary MacDonald, Eric Seaburg, Kevin Motyka, and Kyle Gallo.

The head coach was Don Bates assisted by Jim Bryers, both Berlin Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. On those four teams there are two other Hall of Fame inductees, Kyle Gallo inducted in 2012 and Jon Veneziano inducted in 2013.
